When the pandemic hit we wanted to do something to help our city. Unfortunately we had a hard time finding a concentrated list of local organizations in needed of help.
So we made our own. And we shared it with as many people as we could.
As social distance became the norm, we wanted to remind ourselves we could still help from a distance. We catalogued as many local shelters, food banks and aid organizations as we could on the site at SendHelpTO.ca
A lot of organizations are actually in desperate need of funds rather than volunteers. And as talk around the digital water cooler had turned towards how much money we were all saving by staying home, we used our Instagram to encourage others to donate their spare cash to a cause.
As we put out the call for donations (and donated ourselves) we were fortunate enough to connect with local businesses who wanted to work with us in creating appreciation bags for front-line workers.
The first of these bags was just delivered to Toronto Western Hospital and the second batch is currently underway.
